Melanie Yeomans, Literacy Higher Level Teaching Assistant at Ellis Guilford School, confirms this ethos by commenting I chose to purchase Read&Write GOLD following the training we received from Texthelp staff, which made it evident that the software was so beneficial in enabling independent learning.

Melanie continues Read&Write GOLD gives students power to access their work without the input of an adult. For example, the facility to have written work read back to the student through the text-to-speech function of the software. Read&Write GOLD also promotes a normal way’ of working for students which is evidence needed for exam support.

The assistive software encourages and supports students who have literacy difficulties, giving them the ability to do well with a little support from such software. I feel Read&Write GOLD empowers independent learning whilst also teaching students basic key skills, such as identifying homophones (same sounding words with different meanings). Overall, Read&Write software gives students a sense of achievement and fulfilment.
