BESA Members are invited to join Janet and Helen from DLF (previously known as the Disabled Living Foundation) for this 90 minute online session to hear from the DLF and the work they are doing in the Special Needs space.

DLF is a part of Shaw Trust that for over fifty years has been providing impartial information, advice, and training on equipment for independent living (assistive technology) to enable older and disabled people to live independently. DLF runs the Living Made Easy portal  https://livingmadeeasy.org.uk/ and a free telephone Helpline, the portal offers articles, guides to choosing, a forum and a self-assessment tool along with a marketplace of over 10,000 products from 950+ suppliers. DLF also runs a programme called DLF for Professionals that provides training and support tools for assessors and prescribers of equipment UK-wide.

During 2022 the DLF team is developing a new version of their information and advice called Learning Made Easy that aims to provide advice and guidance on equipment that can solve practical barriers to engaging with learning. DLF’s advice is written by OTs and the product details are provided free by suppliers.

At this meeting DLF will present a prototype of the new Learning Made Easy portal and explain plans to develop it further. Janet and Helen from DLF will consult with BESA members about improving their coverage of products for the education sector designed for learners with needs.
