In this context, CBBC and BESA join hands in hosting a webinar on patent protection in China for the members and wider network.

China is a major patent jurisdiction that you cannot ignore. Given China’s role as a manufacturing centre for the world economy – and as a large and fast growing market – China should be high on the shortlist of territories in which British applicants seek patent protection. China’s patent system was originally based on European legislation. But China’s IP system remains young by international standards and is being reformed at a fast pace. Many elements of Chinese patent examination, validity and enforcement procedures are unfamiliar to British patent professionals and there continues to be a lot of confusion on China's IP landscape.

Join this webinar to learn about:

  • What is new about China's recent amendment on Patent Law?
  • What is the implication of the newly implemented foreign investment law for foreign technology companies in protecting their IP?
  • Guidance and tips for patent protection in China.

Agenda (subject to slight change):

  • 9:00-9:10 Opening speeches by BESA and CBBC
  • 9:10-9:25 Overview of China’s IP landscape, by Ms. Yuan Yuan, Director of Business Environment at CBBC
  • 9:25-10:00 Introduction to patent protection and dispute resolution frameworks in China, by Wu Jia, Partner of King & Wood Mallesons
  • 10:00-10:25 Q&A
  • 10:25-10:30 Closing remarks
