Parental Leave Cover, Part-time – Hodder Education

Who we are and what we do

The Hodder Education Group is one of the UK’s leading educational publishers that has consistently grown both in the UK and internationally. The company is the two-time winner of the British Book Industry Awards and on both occasions the judges commented on the energy and dynamism evident within Hodder Education, making it “obviously a great place to work” whilst being “formidable in the digital space”.

Together, Rising Stars and RS Assessment from Hodder Education (part of the Hodder Education Group) are one of the most successful primary education publishers in the UK. Since our first titles were published in 2002 Rising Stars has created an award-winning range of books, teaching resources and software that support primary teachers and learners in the UK and across the world. We work with expert authors and advisors to produce resources that support all areas of the primary curriculum, from mathematics to English, computing to PE. Our assessment resources are used in thousands of schools and our training and conferences are also a key part of our business.

What you will be doing

Rising Stars is looking for an Editorial Manager (Parental Leave) to be responsible for the forward planning of the project management for the Rising Stars list, with responsibility for allocating work to the team of desk editors and  lead them in the timely publication of a range of high-quality print and digital educational resources, all the while keeping costs under control.  In addition, the role-holder will have their own projects to manage, as well as being responsible for briefing and supervising a range of freelance suppliers and maintaining good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

The role involves working closely with the publishing team on forward planning for new projects – particularly on scheduling and budgeting – and proactively balancing priorities across the team.

What we are looking for

The successful candidate will have a good understanding of the complexities involved in project managing print and digital educational resources for the schools’ market, and excellent project management, copy-editing and proofreading skills. They will have had experience of successful planning and delivery of a wide range of projects and of supporting desk editors in their role.

What we offer

You will be joining a committed team of skilled editorial and publishing colleagues, working together to produce print and digital resources that make a difference to teachers and students. This role is based in our London office for 3-days a week, but we are open to discussions about flexible working.  We offer a range of Hachette benefits.

Our commitment

Hachette employs people of the basis of their abilities. We aim to attract and develop talent from a base as broad as the world of readers we want to reach, with a wide and representative range of age, faith, disability, race, gender, sexuality and socio-economic, regional and cultural backgrounds.

If you are shortlisted and need us to make any adjustments to help you attend for interview, please let us know.
