Hours: Monday – Friday (9am – 5pm) 

Location: Canary Wharf, London (with some travel in the UK / Internationally) 

Salary: £27,000

About the role: 

This role requires the undertaking of membership recruitment and retention campaigns, often being the first port of call for membership enquiries, proactively engaging with non-members in a targeted manner and working closely with the Operations Director to ensure that key membership KPIs are delivered. 

Detailed duties and responsibilities:

  • Working with the Operations Director to ensure the active growth of BESA’s membership body, Launchpad companies and EdTech Exchange members – proactively contacting non-members and holding meetings / calls / attending events to encourage them to sign up 
  • Managing the pipeline of potential new members and reporting on likely outcomes to directors 
  • Coordinating the membership application and renewals process including upselling of Launchpad companies into full membership 
  • Being the first port of call for member queries when they emerge, especially relating to the application process 
  • Scrutinising membership applications and making recommendations on whether a company meets our membership criteria 
  • The development and maintenance of a market-map of all member, lapsed member and non-member education suppliers and EdTech companies in the UK including an accurate contact list to enable membership recruitment drives
  • Supporting the Commercial Director and Events team in the sale of additional services to members as required, to include exhibition space, sponsorship packages, training and events
  • Using social media to engage with members, working with the comms and marketing team
  • Drafting of Member News pieces for the website, and other publications where required
  • Working with the Engagement Manager to ensure the CRM is kept continually up to date
  • Negotiating group discounts for members on certain products / services
  • Development of bespoke PowerPoint presentations for use by the senior leadership team
  • Delivering the Company Presentation to stakeholders, as required
  • Assisting in both UK and International events as required, with a particular focus on member engagement 
  • Assisting with general office administration on an ad hoc basis as required by managers and directors 

  What you have to offer: 

  • Outstanding sales skills and a proven track record in a similar role 
  • Excellent presentation skills and telephone manner with the confidence to engage with a wide range of companies, often with individuals at a senior level 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both internally and externally 
  • Strong organisational skills, with an ability to juggle multiple tasks under pressure
  • First class customer service skills
  • Ability to write clearly and persuasively 
  • Experience in use of databases, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook and Excel 
  • Personable, engaging individual with the ability to add value to the overall team effort 
  • Enthusiastic and committed to achieving both individual and organisational goals, demonstrating a clear understanding of BESA and what it is trying to achieve 
  • Educated to degree level, or equivalent work experience
