Location:                                 Flexible working – min 2 days per week in Shoreditch office

Salary:                                      £25,000 – £30,000 (dependent on experience)

The Membership Executive will be dedicated to bringing new members into the Association, working with the wider membership team . An externally focused role, the successful candidate will be reaching out to potential new members over the telephone, in meetings around the country, and at trade shows and exhibitions.

This dynamic role will put an ambitious, proactive individual at the heart of BESA’s membership expansion plans. Working closely with all of BESA’s teams, and with direct access to the Director and Director General, the successful candidate will maintain an active pipeline of potential members to enable them to reach – and hopefully exceed – growth targets.

The role:

Builds and maintain the pipeline;

– Work with the Membership Manager to create and implement recruitment campaigns across each year

– Drive recruitment efforts and works with marketing to have a strong and continuous recruitment campaign.

– Identifying new opportunities, including market mapping.

– Attending local and national events to drive recruitment

– Comfortable working with and towards targets

Responsible for the sales of sponsorship packages, you will be working with the events team and Head of EdTech to identify suitable prospective sponsors for events and sell the packages

Assists on account management

  • Work with the Membership Manager to support existing members making the most use of membership.

Manage pro-rata renewals and assist in the membership renewal cycle

  • Work with the finance department to ensure renewal invoices are raised and sent with reminders to members in their second year of membership (Pro-rata renewals)
  • Work with the Administrative Assistant and Membership Manager to complete the yearly membership renewal cycle.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have strong presentation skills, with an ability to confidently present to large groups, in 121s, or to executives at board meetings, with an ability to change the pitch accordingly.
  • Be comfortable working with a sales pipeline, with regular reporting of progress against targets.
  • Be externally focused and enjoy networking and being proactive in finding new leads.
  • Be personable, presentable and have strong relationship-building skills – you will be representing the industry to companies around the country.
  • Not be afraid of cold-calling (although you have a fantastic service to talk about!)
  • Have strong experience in “sealing the deal” – we will be looking for this at interview stage!
  • Have a demonstrable knowledge of, and passion for, the UK education suppliers sector (Optional – but a passion for education is a must!)
  • Experience working in a membership organisation if preferable but not necessary
