Five things to know before going to the L&T Expo

As September is upon us, educators and education specialists from all over the world are getting ready for a series of international gatherings. One of these is the Learning and Teaching Expo 2017 (L&T Expo), taking place in Hong Kong between 13-15 December.

Now in its eighth year, the L&T Expo has become the best international education event in the Asia-Pacific region. A record of 11,438 visitors from across the globe attended the L&T Expo in December 2016 – a 25% increase from the previous event.

BESA will be taking over 20 UK educational suppliers to the exhibition, to exhibit their products and services to a large international audience.

Before you go, here are five tips to take full advantage of the opportunities that the L&T Expo has to offer:

1. Get ready to meet with people from a wide range of Asia-Pacific countries

Delegates at the L&T Expo come from across the Asia-Pacific region, including Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan and Mongolia. Reaching a vast range of stakeholders, you will be able to respond to the educational needs of the Chinese market, each of the 10 ASEAN countries, and beyond.

2. Master your elevator pitch for different audiences

You will meet with a broad range of decision-makers at the L&T Expo. There will be business managers and school leaders coming from both government and international schools. Agents and distributors will also be there, since they play a crucial role in helping UK companies break into local markets.

3. Be prepared to answer questions from practitioners

Responding to the growing international schools market, the L&T Expo organisers started the Asia-Pacific International Schools Conference (AISC) a few years ago. Run in conjunction with the L&T Expo, the AISC gives school leaders, teachers, principals, IT directors and other managers free access to the L&T Expo.

4. Don’t try to learn Mandarin on the flight

A few years ago, the L&T Expo began to develop its translation services to adapt to its international audience and facilitate its growth. Today, any British company can easily find its way around the L&T Expo without speaking a word of Mandarin. Some of the Conference talks are even in English now and the L&T Expo is fully open to the world.

5. Book your hotel early!

Hong Kong is a relatively small city-island where beds are in high demand. Make sure to book your accommodation as soon as you decide to come with us to the L&T Expo to get the best value for money.

The L&T Expo is the leading education exhibition to give you access to the Asian education market, and we hope to see you there.
