Not so much a re-shuffle as a new government. Within an hour of Boris Johnson having commenced his tenure as Britain’s 55th Prime Minister, 11 cabinet ministers had been sacked whilst another six had resigned. It is common for new leaders to make changes, but not on this scale. The previous standard bearer for ruthless reshuffles was Harold MacMillan’s ‘night of the long knives’, when he dismissed seven members of his cabinet in one night.
