The increased numbers of children becoming eligible for Pupil Premium funding as a result of the pandemic and the well-documented evidence of a growing disadvantaged gap due to the digital divide reflects the disproportionate impact of Covid-19 on the poorest in society.  The issue of how to address the disadvantaged gap in schools has never been more pertinent.

Nationally renowned speakers Marc Rowland, Pupil Premium and Disadvantaged Learners Adviser for Unity Schools Partnership, and Dr Janet Goodall, Associate Professor in the School of Education at Swansea University will be joining Rachel Macfarlane, Education Services Director for Herts for Learning (HfL).  They will identify and share key strategies for addressing disadvantage and closing the gap in schools.

Reach for the stars! Raising aspirations and expectations for our disadvantaged learners

Wednesday 3rd February – online half-day conference

Given the current importance of this subject and our overriding purpose as a company, we have taken the decision to offer this cross-phase conference to all schools at a cost of £71 per school rather than per delegate.

Herts for Learning – Our purpose

We believe that every young person, through access to a great education, should be able to realise their potential, regardless of where they live or their circumstances.

This means schools can send as many staff as they wish to attend the live online event and will also have access to a recording of the sessions for 28 days to watch on demand or use with staff as needed. This is a one-off offer to schools in response to the current situation and applies to this event only.

For schools with 10 staff this equates to £7.10 per staff member or 71p for schools with 100 staff.  We hope that schools will see this as good value and an excellent opportunity to support closing the gap in their school. The HfL Events team will be contacting all schools that have already booked multiple staff onto this conference directly and amend their booking to ensure that they are charged accordingly.
