Focus Education and 2Eskimos partner to develop reading assessment app

Primary education resource and consultancy provider Focus Education has announced a new partnership with 2Eskimos – the software development company behind the popular ‘2Build a Profile’ assessment systems.

For more than 15 years, 2Eskimos have been creating products to help teachers save time and become more effective. Its ‘2Build a Profile’ app, which tracks pupils’ progress from Reception through to the end of Primary, has won several awards with BETT and ERA.

Now Focus Education are partnering with the software developers in order to create a brand new reading assessment app that will allow teachers to record children reading out loud and to highlight any mistakes within the app; with the app then designed to calculate the child’s reading age.

“We have worked with 2Eskimos previously on other projects and found them excellent partners,” said Claire Duggan, Operations Director of Focus Education. “Once we discontinued our own assessment system ‘Fingertips’, ‘2Build a Profile’ was suggested as an alternative and we have now transferred all of our existing customers over to this software and received excellent feedback.

“Reading assessments are a notoriously time-consuming task, so we’re hoping to save teachers some valuable time with this new application.

“Because of our great working relationship, we’re now excited to announce this partnership which will help us to offer an even more specialised service for our customers, and a product that will help teachers to make their assessments more functional and effective.”

The partners are now working side-by-side in order to develop and launch the app, with Focus Education responsible for the promotion and selling of the product.

Claire added: “Our existing Focus customers will receive a 10% discount on orders of the reading assessment app, and we’ll be showcasing it at our customers next year so anybody interested can try it out first-hand. And for those who aren’t delegates at our conferences, our Business Development Executive will be available for appointments to show you any products you are interested in.”

Focus Education’s popular conferences will be running across the country throughout 2017. The programme is available online: https://www.focus-education.co.uk/events/conferencesearch.aspx)
