Purple Mash and Winning With Numbers have teamed up to provide primary schools with free resources to teach Financial Literacy lessons.
Research from the Money and Pensions Service shows that the skills, attitudes and behaviours children develop around money begin from an early age and continue to grow through childhood and adolescence. Children and young people who receive meaningful financial education are more likely to be active savers, have a bank account they use and feel more confident managing money. Starting early helps children practise small, safe choices now so they can build stronger habits for the future.
Within Purple Mash, there are a range of full Financial Literacy lessons which include ready-to-use activities, lesson videos, printable sheets and ideas for learning at home, all designed to support simple conversations about earning, spending, saving, budgeting and keeping money safe.
Some of these lessons are included in the free, downloadable pack to help pupils explore money in a practical, age-appropriate way and support financial literacy from Early Years to Year 6. Activities covered include coins, needs and wants, budgeting, digital money, value for money, tax and fairness.
Beyond the Financial Literacy resources, the Purple Mash platform also contains fun maths games, interactive maths activities, and printable manipulatives and worksheets – all linked to the National Curriculum for mathematics.
