Playforce was awarded the contract to complete the installation for projects totalling more than £330,000 from the latest wave of Sport England’s £18 million National Lottery-funded Primary School Facilities Fund, which is helping hundreds of schools across England who currently have little suitable outside space for children to take part in PE, sport and active play.

Playforce will be installing a variety of equipment such as Multi Use Games spaces, activity surfacing, goal ends, shelters and climbing walls at ten schools over coming months. Each of the new spaces has been designed to improve facilities for physical activity, PE and sport and ensure that pupils have access to good quality and multi-functional spaces to keep active. In most cases, extra-curricular sports clubs, and the wider school and local community will also benefit from the developments.

Playforce Managing Director, Dr. Colin MacAdam, said: “We are delighted to be working with these primary schools to improve children’s physical literacy with new, high-quality spaces for sport, PE and active outdoor play.  At Playforce, we’re passionate about providing opportunities for all children to have the opportunity to be physically active, and we believe that positive early experiences of physical activity play an important part in encouraging young people to be active throughout their lives.”

Playforce is an active member of the Association of Play Industries (API), the UK’s leading play sector trade body, which campaigns at the highest levels for policy recognition of the value of active play.  API members like Playforce are committed to the vital role of play in tackling the nation’s catastrophic physical inactivity epidemic. Playforce has led the sector in recent years with research on related issues such as childhood obesity, the impact of events such as the Olympic Games on young people’s desire to take part in sport and PE, and is working with the Youth Sport Trust as the exclusive Business Honours Club Partner for playground equipment and facilities.
