We are delighted to announce that BESA’s Director General, Caroline Wright, has been selected as a member of the Chartered College of Teaching’s EdTech Evidence Board.
The board will ratify assessment outcomes for reviews conducted by trained reviewers as part of the EdTech Evidence Board project funded by the Department for Education.
Responding to the announcement Caroline Wright said:
“I am pleased to represent EdTech providers on this programme led by the Department for Education and the Chartered College of Teaching.
BESA and its members are committed to supporting educators both here in the UK and around the world. This is demonstrated through the association’s Code of Practice which commits all of our members to deliver products and services which are of the highest quality.
This work will support sovereign EdTech providers strengthen their evidence base in areas including generative AI, adaptive learning, assessment and assistive technologies. It will also support schools to make informed choices about the tools that best meet their needs.”
Katy Chedzey, Associate Director at the Chartered College of Teaching said:
“As the professional body for teaching in the UK, the Chartered College has a responsibility to champion evidence-informed decision-making in schools. At a time when budgets are tight and there are myriad EdTech products to choose from, teachers and leaders want to know that the choices they make are based on real evidence that the product can make a difference to the children and young people in their schools.
The EdTech Evidence Board will play an important role in helping educators and EdTech companies to utilise better evidence to make better decisions. We are thrilled to be able to bring such a knowledgeable group of individuals together to form the appointed board to help ensure the process is rigorous, fair and fit for purpose.”
