Purchase of Leading Virtual and Augmented Reality Provider Highlights Discovery Education’s Commitment to Immersive Learning Experiences
Discovery Education, one of the UK’s leading providers of digital curriculum content and professional learning for primary and secondary schools, today announced the acquisition of the award-winning virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) provider Inspyro. Terms were not disclosed.
Discovery Education’s purchase of Inspyro is a critical component of the company’s global content and product strategy. The acquisition will deliver augmented and virtual reality to thousands of UK schools, harnessing the latest technology to transform lessons and inspire pupils.
VR and AR content empowers teachers to create immersive learning experiences such as virtual science labs and virtual field trips, transporting pupils through time, space and geography. The purchase of Inspyro gives Discovery Education an in-house ability to quickly design and integrate new VR and AR content into products across its portfolio, including Espresso, the popular digital learning service for UK primary schools.
