PedTech provider Learning by Questions (LbQ), in association with PGL, is hosting a brand-new Year 6 Travel Guide LIVE event with a team of educational experts.
Taking place Saturday 12 September at PGL Dearne Valley in Doncaster, the event promises teachers a full day of practical workshops, honest conversations and real-world strategies that can be used in the year 6 classroom – and lots of fun.
Renowned primary school teacher, speaker and writer, Sophie Bartlett, will be on hand to offer detailed SATs analysis and practical classroom resources. She will also be joined by a full list of KS2 specialists, offering advice and workshop sessions on a range of year 6 topics including:
· Charlie Burley, wellbeing expert a.k.a. The Teachers’ Health Coach
· Steph Rhodes, Maths lead and reading specialist
· Maaria Khan, English lead and SLT member
· Dr John Allan, conqueror of Everest and expert outdoor practitioner
· Emily Weston, reading and writing enthusiast and transitions specialist
· Anna Crowther-Riley, TheSENExpert and inclusivity advocate
In 2025 LbQ launched Sophie’s Travel Guide Through Year 6 – a free comprehensive handbook curated by the SATs and year 6 specialist along with a collection of trusted experts. Following its success, with over 24,000 teachers downloading the handbook within two weeks, LbQ has decided to bring this year’s guide to life, as an in-person ‘festival-style’ event.
“There’s so much for year 6 teachers to get to grips with and handle these days, that we thought it would be helpful to provide a guide throughout the year, providing practical advice and tips that can be put into place at each stage,” said Heather Abela, Head of Marketing at LbQ. “With last year’s guide being such a huge success, the obvious next step has been to put something in place where year 6 teachers can enjoy getting together to share experiences, advice and support.”
Attendees will enjoy the opportunity to join together in a retro-adventure basecamp and choose their own route through the workshop sessions, before finishing the day around a campfire. Plus, there will be opportunities to take part in optional activities throughout the day such as rock climbing, archery and ziplining.
“At PGL, we see every day how shared experiences can build confidence and unlock potential,” said Steve Beardsmore, Business Development Manager at PGL Beyond. “We’re delighted to host Year 6 Travel Guide LIVE at PGL Dearne Valley, where the unique outdoor environment provides the perfect setting for teachers to step away from their everyday routines, learn from one another and return to the classroom with fresh ideas and renewed confidence.”
Key takeaways from Year 6 Travel Guide LIVE will be:
· Ready-to-use strategies for SATs, SEND, wellbeing and transition
· A clearer view of the year 6 terrain
· Genuine connections with other year 6 teachers
· A backpack full of practical ideas (and freebies)
Tickets for the event are priced at £45 per person, with a limited number of places available. To book your place visit: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/year-6-travel-guide-live-practical-workshops-real-connections-tickets-1987382006079
