White Rose Maths wins a further award for its home learning support during the Covid-19 pandemic

White Rose Maths is proud to have won the 2021 Best Community/CSR Initiative Award at the national COVID Response Awards yesterday. These awards, which were presented at the Kia Oval, London, pay tribute to the resourcefulness, resilience and tenacity of a wide range of corporate and non-commercial organisations across the UK.

White Rose Maths’ award recognises the team’s tireless work last year in producing a wide range of free resources to support teachers, parents, carers and pupils with home learning during the school closures. In particular, the White Rose Maths team produced hundreds of free Home Learning videos which became the ‘go-to’ maths resources for many schools, parents and carers. At the time of writing, the free videos and resources have been viewed over 100 million times.

The comments of the Covid Response Awards judges warmly applauded the White Rose Maths team’s enduring efforts. One judge noted that it was “a great initiative, and the take-up statistics are impressive!”, while another said that, “the timeliness in making their resources available out there was great: offering free and flexible learning is so important.” One judge concluded by saying, “Education during the pandemic was a challenge for every parent. I congratulate the White Rose Maths team on an excellent initiative which will have helped many pupils with this critical subject. Well done!”

Managing Director of White Rose Maths, Caroline Hamilton, commented, “We are truly delighted to have won this award. It’s heart-warming to know that our hard work has been recognised in this way”. She added, “It will mean so much to the whole team and the trophy will take pride of place in our office! Thank you to everyone who continues to support our work.”

White Rose Maths joined an impressive set of winners in other categories at yesterday’s ceremony, including our Home Learning Partner, BBC Bitesize, as well as Channel 4, O2 and Octopus Energy. We’d like to offer our congratulations to all the winning organisations and those who were nominated in the various categories, too.
