Tassomai to launch personalised intervention videos for students with knowledge gaps in science

GCSE students struggling to understand specific science concepts will be able to fill in the knowledge gaps by watching short video clips aimed at helping them learn and retain information. The videos are being launched by Tassomai, an educational technology company that uses quiz-based on-line learning. It is currently used by 100,000 students in more than 450 schools across the UK.

GL Education and GP Menco sign 10-year agreement to take CAT4 to China

GL Education has signed a 10-year partnership agreement with the Shanghai-based General Plan Menco Education Group (GP Menco), which will see the Mandarin edition of GL Education’s Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT4) being used to fuel GP Menco’s teacher training and consultancy to Chinese state schools. The partnership will benefit teaching and learning in Chinese schools on a large scale.

Story-telling helps boys close ‘literacy gap’ with girls

A story-telling approach can help boys aged 2-5 years old catch up with the literacy levels of girls in the same class, research by Goldsmiths, University of London has found. Tales Toolkit is a storytelling programme, currently used for children up to age seven in more than 120 schools across the UK and eight countries worldwide, that encourages imagination and creativity. It provides schools with child-led resources based around symbols to represent story structure of character, setting, problem and solution.

Children can now study smarter with Kortext on HP educational devices

Kortext announced today that it is working with HP to help children around the world study smarter. Any child using an HP Windows Education Edition device will now have access to a free library of selected digital textbooks through the Kortext app, providing one-touch access to core textbooks available online and offline for instant, on-the-go learning. The core textbooks will be from renowned publishers Oxford University Press (OUP) and Routledge, with other publishers looking to add to the collection in due course.

Superbrands revealed today that STAEDTLER (UK) Ltd has been awarded Business Superbrands status for 2019. The Business Superbrands survey has been tracking the perception of a wide-range of business brands in the UK since 2001. This year’s survey evaluated just shy of 1,600 brands across 63 categories from ‘Accountancy & Business Services’ to ‘Waste Management & Recycling’. BESA and Founders Exchange Ltd (FEL) form joint venture for EdTech Exchange

The British Educational Suppliers Association (BESA) and Founders Exchange Ltd (FEL) today announced a new joint venture to run EdTech Exchange, which will be the largest European network of EdTech entrepreneurs. EdTech Exchange was started by FEL in 2014 and provides members with mentoring, support and a programme of events designed to share best practice through peer-to-peer learning.
