The ICO issued the Code under the Data Protection Act 2018 on 12 August 2020 and it came into force on the 2 September 2020.  The Code sets out 15 standards that online services should meet to protect children's privacy, including if you design, develop or provide, for example, online apps, social media platforms, games, connected toys (with or without a screen) and educational websites for children. It is intended to protect children within the modern digital world; if you are involved in providing online services to children, then you should review the Code to ensure that you comply with it.
