This webinar will present an overview of the opportunities and barriers to doing business in Nepal.

    • DIT Nepal will present on the macroeconomic indicators and trade background of Nepal and discuss the political stability and government.
  • Overview of Education sector
    • DIT Nepal will discuss the current climate within the education sector from primary to tertiary level education and explore how this has changed over the past few years, with a focus on K12 and colleges of Nepal.
  • School operators in Nepal
    • We will be joined by representatives of major educational business houses with interests in multiple institutions, from primary to post graduate level institutions who will discuss their roles and what they are looking for from education providers.
  • Q&A 
    • We will end with a question and answer session where you will be able to ask questions to all speakers.

 

Speakers

Pavitra Bahadur Gautam, CEO, Karkhana

Pavitra was the kind of kid who would love to experiment and face challenges. The same attitude made him a Programmer, a robot maker, entrepreneur, and teacher. He likes to call himself an engineer by education, an entrepreneur by profession, and an educator by passion.

He loves to solve problems and work in teams. Being the CEO at Karkhana has given him a chance to convert his passion into his daily life. Through Karkhana he is trying to create a platform that can connect real-life and classroom using maker-based education to create critical learners for the 21st century & impact education the same way. He is also active as an Executive Member of the National Governing Council of Nepalese Young Entrepreneurs Forum. Through NYEF he has been active in growing Nepal’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

 

Rajen Kandel, MD, The British College 

Mr Rajen Kandel is a British-Nepali businessperson and entrepreneur. He is the Managing Director of the Kandel Group UK and its subsidiaries including The Woolwich College (UK), The British College (Kathmandu), E-works UK, Neem The Pharmacy Group (which owns three pharmacies in London, UK), Yak & Yeti Restaurant Group UK and Global Nepali Patra Publication (UK & Australia). Mr Kandel also has investment portfolios in real estate and business interest in the UK, UAE, Nepal and Australia. He was the former Chairman of the Britain Nepal Chamber of Commerce (BNCC) from 2015-2019 and the former advisor for the Non-Resident Nepalese Association UK from 2017-2019. Mr Kandel has been incredibly successful in international business, yet his passion lies in education.

 

Diptee Acharya, Director, Sanskriti School 

Mrs Diptee Acharya is a passionate educator, international trainer, social worker and volunteer; and has been in the field of education for over 25 years. She is the Founder Director of Sanskriti International School in Kathmandu. She started her career working with infants and toddlers after doing her M Ed in Montessori education from Loyala University Maryland in the USA. She has undergone further trainings to work with elementary and secondary school children from Canada and India. She has travelled to many countries gaining experience and trainings from the UK, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Dubai, India etc. She has been a passionate toastmaster for over 13 years and is presently serving as the Area Director for Division A, District 41 of Toastmasters International. She is someone who truly believes that collaboration brings about learning and growth.

 

Suvash Thapa, Head of DIT, British Embassy Kathmandu

Suvash leads the Department for International Trade at the British Embassy in Kathmandu, where he works with various stakeholders to support UK businesses to trade and invest in Nepal. Suvash has experience in a variety of sectors having been a management consultant and has been responsible for helping start different ventures in the country. His expertise is in financial and investment advisory.
