Editorial Assistant, Rising Stars

Who we are and what we do
We are proud to be one of the largest education publishers in the UK and internationally, with a broad range of products and services for teachers and students, from curriculum resources to assessment materials. We aim to make a difference to teachers and students by producing quality resources and services, while continuing to grow as a successful and profitable business. Our success is rooted in our values: putting teachers and students at the heart of what we do, improving quality year on year, working collaboratively, and being trustworthy in what we publish and how we work.

Rising Stars (part of the Hodder Education Group) are one of the most successful primary education publishers in the UK. Since our first titles were published in 2002 Rising Stars has created an award-winning range of books, teaching resources and software that support primary teachers and learners in the UK and across the world. We work with expert authors and advisors to produce resources that support all areas of the primary curriculum, from mathematics to English, computing to PE. Our assessment resources are used in thousands of schools and our training and conferences are also a key part of our business.

What you’ll be doing
We are looking for an Editorial Assistant to support our editorial and publishing teams, focusing on our Rising Stars lists. As part of a small and friendly team, you will coordinate reprints of published titles, conduct picture research, clear permissions and check both print and digital publications to uphold our high standard of quality control. You will also organise contracts and perform other critical administrative tasks for the publishers. And you will be one of our Biblio super-users: trained to assist both teams in their use of all the relevant areas of Biblio, to set up titles and keep all the financial, contractual and bibliographic information up to date.

Who we’re looking for
You will be a proactive planner, an effective team worker, and quick to adapt to changing circumstances. You will need to be a clear communicator in speech and writing, have a keen eye for detail and a talent for keeping your work organised.
Some experience working as an editorial assistant, or in a comparable administrative role elsewhere, is required. Previous proofreading experience, experience working in Biblio and familiarity with an asset management system are all desirable.

What we offer
You will be joining a committed team of skilled editorial and publishing colleagues, working together to produce books and resources we can all be proud of. As part of Hachette UK, you will also have the opportunity to benefit from company-wide schemes such as mentoring.

Our Commitment
Hachette employs people on the basis of their abilities. We aim to attract and develop talent from a base as broad as the world of readers we want to reach, with a wide and representative range of age, faith, disability, race, gender, sexuality and socio-economic, regional and cultural backgrounds.
Unfortunately, due to the high volume of applications we receive, we are only able to get in touch directly with shortlisted candidates. If you are shortlisted and need us to make any adjustments to help you attend for interview, please do let us know.
