If so, this half-day seminar will aim to answer all your questions. Run by two respected national education correspondents, this course is aimed at anyone who writes about education research and innovation.

The event will cover:

  • Why evidence makes a good story – how to turn research into news
  • Presenting complex facts in a simple way without losing the point
  • Building positive working relationships with researchers
  • How to find the right outlet for a story
  • How to turn research evidence into an engaging press release

Participants will receive copies of notes and some clear written tips to help them use the skills they have learned.

Hosts:

Fran Abrams has written hundreds of thousands of words for national newspapers and broadcast, along with five factual books. She now runs EMC, a charity devoted to ensuring good evidence about education gets read by those who can use it.

Lucy Ward was education correspondent on the Independent newspaper and the Guardian. She also reported on politics and social affairs for the Guardian, and is now Communications Manager at the University of Cambridge Faculty of Education.
