A 2022 snapshot of UK educators’ use of technology in mathematics

The first ever survey of UK educators’ uses of technology in their maths teaching has captured what they are using (and why), alongside their professional learning needs, and visions for the future. Educators from all four nations were invited to contribute – and their educational settings span the early years, primary and secondary schools, and adult & community colleges (excluding universities).  There are some surprising emerging findings! The survey is part of The Royal Society’s Advisory Committee on Mathematics Education’s current review of the role that digital technologies might (and should have) in mathematics now, and in the near future. The work aims to inform national policy debate and associated developments.

Guest Speaker - Alison Clark-Wilson, Professor of Digital Education, UCL Knowledge Lab

Alison is a former secondary school maths teacher who has been at the forefront of EdTech developments in school maths for over 30 years. She is now a Professor of Digital Education at UCL Knowledge Lab, where she leads projects and initiatives aimed at supporting the impact of the Edtech sector on a global scale (with a particular interest in school maths). Most recently she has published an important report (funded by Jacobs Foundation) on more systemic Global models for piloting, testing and evaluating EdTech in real-world K12 settings.
