Grow your business by learning how to pivot effectively.
Grow your business by learning how to pivot effectively.
2020 has proven that keeping up with the changing landscape is crucial to the success of any business. This means keeping an eye on industry trends and adapting accordingly.
In this session, we'll hear from three companies who have successfully pivoted to suit the particular needs of their customers. We'll look at the different factors to consider before embarking on such a change and share advice on how, and when, to pivot in order to grow.
The Speakers
Helen Newies - Director of Operations, GCSEPod
Director of Operations with an eleven-year tenure working in EdTech. Helen joined GCSEPod, the award-winning digital publisher, in 2011 as their fourth employee just as they were pivoting from B2C to a B2B.
She built a team that now supports over 1,700 schools worldwide, based on a unique coaching model which empowers school leaders to fully integrate technology into teaching and learning. Now working as Director of Operations, Helen oversees platform and product development as the service supports teachers both in, and outside, the classroom.
Helen is also a proud member of the BESA Women’s Educational Suppliers Working Group and supports the Xavier Project, a non-profit which supports refugees in Kenya and Uganda via a self-directed learning pathway towards internationally recognised qualifications.
Jon Smith - CEO, Pobble
Jon is Co-founder and CEO of award-winning edtech venture Pobble. Pobble provides everything schools need to teach, improve and assess writing.
Pobble is a recipient of the UK Department for Education’s EdTech Innovation Fund and won the BETT Award for “Best Classroom Aid for Learning, Teaching and Assessment”.
Jon has a Masters in Engineering Science from Oxford University and an MBA from London Business School. Jon started Pobble with his brother and two other teachers in 2013.
Nick Madhavji - Founder/CEO, Joskos Solutions
Nick is a highly successful entrepreneur and the founder of Joskos Solutions, a national, award-winning education technology company he founded in his former classroom in response to the school struggling with ICT provision. Since that day in 2001, Joskos Solutions has focused entirely on education and delivering impactful ICT solutions to schools across the UK. Nick's companies have contributed in excess of £150m to the UK economy over the last 10 years, and have created hundreds of employment opportunities.
Being dyslexic, Nick’s very own education journey was challenging. However, his passion for finding solutions, being proactive and working with people to make amazing things happen built a strong foundation for an education business that has genuinely disrupted the way technology services are delivered, with a more proactive stance that always places learners first.
